You don't have to leave the house to get a great workout. Dust off your DVD's and videos and use them or go online and find online classes to download to your IPAD, tablet or other device to follow along with.

Claudia: Even when I'm exhausted but know that I need a workout I try and do a quick 30 min video at home with my weights. Always makes me feel great :)

It's springtime, so get out of the house and go for a brisk walk, nice run, or head to the local YMCA for a swim. Better yet, go play in the park with your kids.

Krista: I'm a HUGE fan of long walks (3-5 miles nightly) after sitting at my desk all day. It's free and I always feel exceptional after getting some fresh air.

Join a Gym

Sometimes its more cost-effective to join a gym. Make it greener by choosing one you can walk or run to. Help to make them more conscious by asking them to use energy-saving bulbs and water-saving shower heads.

If you're going to be exercising outside, you'll want to make sure you have clothing that will absorb sweat and keep you comfy. You will also need the proper fitting shoes. Choose companies that make clothing using recycled or sustainable fabrics.

You don't have to spend an arm and a leg, buy used equipment or trade with someone else. One person's junk is another person's treasure. Places like Play it Again Sports offer great equipment options that work as well or even better than the new version and for much, much less. All you really need are some weighted balls, stretchy bands, a few dumbbells and a place to store it and you are in business.

Recycle Your Water Bottle

According to the Container Recycling Institute only 23% of plastic bottles are recycled in the U.S. Plastic water bottles can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade. Get a container that's refillable to use for your water. If you want it filtered, get one that fits on your faucet. Instant, filtered water for your workout.

I know you have lots of DVDs, so why not get together with a couple of friends and share them. When you are finished, pass it on to someone else. If you need to buy new ones, buy one, then pass that one around. Variety is the spice of life. Remember I said to pass, not copy, don't infringe on copyrights.

Remember earlier when I said go to the park? Well, take the kids and all of you have fun on the swings working out. There are lots of exercises you can do on the swings, monkey bars, see-saw and other objects you'll find there.

Make your cardio workout on the treadmill or bike count twice as much. Hook up a generator to the machines and harness that energy to use later to power your iPhone, Android phone, clocks and lamps. You'll really appreciate them much more after sweating to keep them running.

Start a Garden

I saved he best one for last. Gardening burns calories and all that hoeing, weeding, watering and picking will give you a great workout. Believe me, you will strengthen your core, back, arms and legs. Plus, you will save tons of money by cooking the food that you grow yourself. I think a pat on the back is in order!
